New York City Street View

It only takes 7 Seconds for a criminal to choose their victim.

In a 1981 sociological study, researchers, Betty Grayson and Morris Stein, recorded individuals on a New York City street for three consecutive days. The  footage was then presented to the most violent criminals in prisons located throughout the Northeast.

These inmates were asked to identify who they would choose to victimize. Remarkably, every single participant selected the exact same individual.

How long did it take for them to know their target? 7 Seconds.

If you only have 7 Seconds, how do you protect yourself?

When faced with a mere 7 Seconds to defend oneself, safety lies in situational awareness and early threat detection. By maintaining a heightened state of awareness and actively observing surroundings, individuals can identify potential dangers before they even begin.

Developing these skills and ingraining them into daily routines can significantly enhance the ability to respond effectively in time-sensitive situations, reducing the risk of harm and promoting overall safety.
